First-Year SHAC Crits
This year’s SHAC Challenge calls for a community bus shelter design, situated in Methven, New Zealand. The shelter must fit 10–20 skiers and snowboarders waiting for their mountain ride. The project emphasises the use of natural building (i.e. local materials that have been minimally processed, such as rammed earth, untreated timber, straw, etc.).
Unitec architecture students participate in SHAC as part of their first-year studio group projects. The competition gives students the opportunity to challenge the use of materials, and consider sustainability and recycling of materials.
The competition is open to all, and entries close on 2 November 2015. Check out the SHAC blog for more details.
